Samson Mall is the town centre of the Lake Louise Village. The mall offers a number of great, locally-owned cafes (Trailhead Cafe & Laggan’s Bakery), a terrific gear shop (Wilson Mountain Sports) and a fully-stocked grocery store, liquor store, and gift shop. The mall is located on the corner of Village Road and Lake Louise Drive, just off the Trans-Canada Highway.
All shuttles from the Moraine Lake Bus Company include a stop at Samson Mall to pick up guests staying at the local hotels. If you’re arriving by vehicle, you need to drive your car to the Lake Louise Summer Gondola pick-up area because you can not park your vehicle at Samson Mall.
If you plan to visit Samson Mall, we’ve put together a brief guide to our favorite spots at this vibrant little hub!
Moraine Lake Bus Company Front Desk
We may be a bit biased, but our absolute favourite spot in Samson Mall has to be the Moraine Lake Bus Company store that’s nestled in the Experience Lake Louise store. Come say hi to our friendly reservations team!
At our store, you can book your shuttle ticket in-person (if there’s still space), modify your existing booking, ask for hiking recommendations from our staff, or buy some merch (apparel, water bottles, and running caps!)
Trailhead Café
Trailhead Café is a Banff National Park institution. This charming, family-owned café has earned its stripes as a local favourite, and for good reason. With a menu that boasts delicious breakfast and lunch options, daily specials, and the best coffee in Lake Louise, it’s no wonder customers keep coming back.
One of the standout menu items is ‘The Gobbler,’ a favourite of the Moraine Lake Bus Company staff. But what exactly is in this sandwich? You’ll have to drop by to find out!
For a spot this popular, the service at Trailheads is remarkably quick, and they’ll get you in and out with a fresh sandwich or wrap on short notice!
Open from 7 am to 5 pm daily, you can find Trailhead Café on the southwestern side of the mall.
Laggan’s Mountain Bakery and Deli
Just as essential as Trailhead Café, Laggan’s has been a beloved stop for Lake Louise hikers since 1987. This little eatery offers a delicious selection of baked goods, deli items like sandwiches and pizza, and cold and hot beverages.
Open from 7 am to 5 pm, Laggan’s is the perfect spot for any meal during your adventure. If you’re returning early after the Moraine Lake Bus Company Sunrise Shuttle, treat yourself to one of their famous baked cookies. And after a long day on the trails, nothing hits the spot quite like a generous slice of hot pizza.
Laggan’s is located in the southwest corner of the mall, right next to the Lake Louise Ski Resort Office. Whether you’re fuelling up for the day or winding down afterward, Laggan’s is always a good idea.
Wilson Mountain Sports
We’ve all been there—you’re gearing up for an adventure and suddenly realise you’ve forgotten a crucial piece of gear. Whether it’s your head torch, hiking poles, or that favourite hat you just can’t hike without, don’t stress! Wilson Mountain Sports is here to save the day.
Even if you’ve got all your essentials packed, this outdoor haven is perfect for those looking to upgrade their gear or snag some unique, local kit. The friendly staff are always ready to help you find exactly what you’re after.
With a fantastic selection of both well-known brands and local merch, Wilson’s has everything you need for a successful day out at the lake or on the trails.
They’re open daily from 8 am to 6 pm, conveniently located near the taxi rank on the northern side of the mall. So, before you head out on your next adventure, make sure to check out Wilson’s Mountain Sports.
